Museum of natural history and museum dedicated to marble installed in the old thermal baths of Salut in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.

In the heart of the former Salut thermal baths, the Musée du Marbre is erected. Created by Jacques Dubarry de Lassale, it features 320 marbles, a hundred of which reflect the richness of the Pyrenees, from the Basque country to Languedoc. These mountains offer an unrivalled variety of marbles. The museum also features a scale model of the Haute-Bigorre region and an area dedicated to bats, visible through infrared cameras. A journey to the heart of the region's natural heritage.

Closed May 1 to June 15. In July and August, open Wednesday to Sunday, 2.30 pm to 6 pm. Closed August 15th. High season: open Wednesday to Sunday, 2.30 pm to 6 pm. Off school vacations, open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. During all school vacations, open Tuesday to Saturday, 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Free for children under 16. Adults: €4. Group: €3 (without guided tour). Credit cards not accepted. Guided tour.

Une collection exceptionnelle bien mise en valeur dans les magnifiques bâtiments des anciens thermes restaurés. Vraiment une bonne initiative qui permet à la fois de sauver un bâtiment remarquable et de faire découvrir la richesse géologique des marbres pyrénéens et d'ailleurs !

En randonnée en vélo on n emporte pas le coffre fort mais juste la carte bleue et au Musee du marbre nous avons été refoulés pour 8 €.

Bonjour, visite du musée le 15 juin 2023 après-midi, accueil chaleureux. Musée situé dans un endroit champêtre et boisé, très belles collections à voir. A visiter absolument.
