One of the most beautiful of the Pyrenean chain, easy to access and attracts many people for a family picnic

The lake of Gaube is one of the most beautiful of the Pyrenean chain. At the foot of the Pic de Vignemale (3,298 m), located at an altitude of 1,725 m, it is easily accessible and therefore attracts many people for a simple walk or a family picnic. Accessible to all, the most resistant to walking take the chairlift of Gaube to get there. There follows a fifteen minutes walk on a flat path. The others take the GR10 for a hike of about 1h15. Photographers immortalize its clear or icy waters where this giant shimmers.

Petit week-end a Cauteret, randonné de 4 heures aller retour, petit arrêt au Lac de Gaube pour se poser près d'un refuge plus haut,

Après une marche ascensionnelle de plus d'une heure dans un cadre magnifique, verdure, cascades et ruisseaux, torrents de montagne, on découvre avec merveille ce superbe lac...!!
Quel magnifique spectacle pour les yeux.
Il vaut mieux y aller de matin et assez de bon heure pour ne pas être avec la foule.
Le retour (comme l'aller) peut se faire en siège téléphérique. Mais franchement à pied c'est mieux et cela en vaut le détour...

Pas la peine de partir dans les pays lointains à la recherche de sites naturels magnifiques ou des plus beaux lagons, le lac de Gaube avec son lac couleur émeraude représente à mon sens le plus beau site des Hautes Pyrénées. Si vous manquez de temps oubliez Gavarnie et le Pic du midi pour privilégier le Lac de Gaube. Magique!

C'est une superbe randonnée à faire, qu'on soit ou non expérimenté. Situé au pied du Vignemale, on peut se garer au parking du pont d'Espagne et prendre le télésiège, ou mieux, passer entre les forêts de pins et y accéder en une heure de marche. Le trajet offre un panorama exceptionnel sur les cascades du pont d'Espagne.
