THE PEAK OF THE JER AND ITS FUNICULAR RAILWAY
Peak overhanging the city of Lourdes, where the air is of an unbelievable purity.
At night, its illuminated cross may have caught your eye in the distance. At an altitude of 1,000 m, it overlooks the city and it is often thanks to it that you can see the Pic du Jer. Since 1900, the funicular allows to climb it, in complete safety. It is a small trip whose charm has no equal. Before taking place in the cabin, look at the summit which dominates you with its splendor. In a few minutes you will be at the top. You pass through two tunnels. Wherever you put your eyes, the show is magnificent. Soon the earth becomes smaller and the sky closer, after a few jolts of arrest, you descend, ready to enjoy the most beautiful panorama of Lourdes. At the top the driver will be happy to answer your questions. The Marian city stretches out at your feet, the Sanctuary stands out and when the weather is cloudless, Tarbes looms in the distance. The Pyrenees range stretches out with a 360° view and the site is breathtaking. A guide allows you to visit the cave (40 min) well cool. A botanical path punctuates the way. Thanks to the Randoland cards, it's also time to play! The air is unbelievably pure and the most athletic know it well: the world-famous mountain bike trails of the Pic du Jer are open, including a very technical black trail reserved exclusively for the initiated. In fact, it is here that for three consecutive years a round of the Mountain Bike World Cup has taken place. On the spot restaurant and refreshment bar.
