NÉOUVIELLE NATURE RESERVE
Unique mountain natural area located in Saint-Lary-Soulan, one of the oldest nature reserves in France.
The Néouvielle massif is a unique mountain natural area, with a great bioclimatic originality. Its wealth of flora and fauna, its lakes and its landscapes have long been the subject of special attention. Here nature goes beyond the limits: the hooked pines beat records for longevity and altitude! Founded in 1936, it is one of the oldest nature reserves in France. More than 570 species of algae and more than 70 lakes (Aumar, Aubert, Orédon, Cap de Long...) have been identified on this territory, marking the landscape with their limpid waters. Nature and biodiversity lovers are in paradise here, many hikes are possible and the tour of Néouvielle is done from refuge to refuge. The massif has 5 refuges guarded allowing itineraries. To preserve the beauty of the site, but also to facilitate the discovery, developments have been undertaken (reception, parking, trails, toilets ...). You can not only make the tour of Néouvielle by going from refuge to refuge but also try to climb the peak of Néouvielle, 3 091 m, a panoramic summit accessible in 6 hours of walking. Crampons are sometimes necessary and the ascent is difficult in terms of altitude difference. Caution is required and the accompaniment of a professional is recommended for novices. Hiking or snowshoeing tours are offered by local guides throughout the year.

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
Peut-être aurions-nous dû plus nous renseigner avant. Les autres circuits doivent être plus agréables j'imagine mais plus difficiles avec des enfants.
Le camping devrait être interdit dans cette magnifique réserve.
