THE CAMINITO
A trompe l'oeil mural evokes the neighborhood of La Boca, at the mouth of the Riachuelo River
The International Argentine Tango Festival has put Tarbes at the heart of the discipline. In 2011, the town council was keen to seal this link between the town and dance. In the little rue Saint-Pierre, a trompe l'oeil mural measuring 31 by 4.20 metres evokes the Boca district, at the mouth of the Riachuelo river. Caminito, or little path, refers both to the poor district of Buenos Aires and to a famous tango composed in 1926. Alain Laborde's fresco tells the story of Argentina, from soccer to ceibo flowers, from tangueros to the country's national bird.
