This site was one of the most important sources of tin in the ancient world
Exploited since the end of the Neolithic period and then under the Romans - the site was one of the most important sources of tin in the ancient world - they remained dormant for 15 centuries. Acquired in 1945 by the Société Nantaise des Minerais de l'Ouest, these mines resumed their activity from 1952 to 1957. Nearly 4,000 t of tin were extracted. The exploitation of the site left impressive white sand heaps, as well as a vast pond in the middle of the woods. The site has been developed as a leisure centre, with a mountain bike circuit and hiking trails.
