THE CHAPEL OF THE URSULINES
The chapel of the Ursulines (or Saint-Joseph) was built under Louis XIV. All the ancient decor of the chapel disappeared. There is only a very beautiful frame and the bedside, very high, of painted decorations. Classified as a historic monument in 1990, it has since 1995 had a new dual vocation when it was bought by the town hall of Ancenis: the hosting of contemporary art exhibitions, and the programming shows of the Ancenis Free Neighborhood Theater and the concerts of the Harpes Harpes Harpes International Festival. In parallel, events are created in connection with the theme developed by the artist: conferences, projects developed with schools… One goal: make contemporary art accessible to all.
