The original halles of the sixteenth century did not resist the architectural fever planted in Paris by Baron Haussmann: in the middle of the nineteenth century, the halles are destroyed to be rebuilt in the spirit of the time. This important site is entrusted to the architect Chenantais, who is not at his test as evidenced by the Palais de Justice or the church Notre-Dame Bon-Port of Nantes. The halles as they exist today were part of the vast Operation of Ancenis 2017, whose goal was to make the city heart more attractive. Thanks to this program, which included the creation of a screw, the replenishment of the façade, the renovation of roof and cover, the installation of new carpentries and the redevelopment of interior spaces, the halles have recovered all their superb and now offer a new commercial space of 600 m 2. This does not prevent maraichers, thieves, poems, and cheesemakers from installing their market around the halles every Thursday morning.
