Marshes regrouping about twenty salt workers in Assérac, the most northern in Europe.
The salt marshes of Assérac are part of the "Bassin du Mès" which groups together about twenty salt workers on 400 ha and spreads over the communes of Mesquer-Quimiac, Saint-Molf and Assérac. The marshes of Mès are part of the salt marshes of the Guérande peninsula, and are also the most northern in Europe. They are traditionally exploited since the Middle Ages to harvest salt and salt flower. This area is supplied with water by the Traict de Mesquer. The name of the salt harvested here is the famous "Guérande salt".
