THE LIME KILN
Exceptional lime kiln, a spectacular vestige of the lime kiln activity which consists of three rooms in Avessac.
This lime kiln in an exceptional state of preservation is a spectacular vestige of the lime kiln activity. The signs on the site will explain how limestone was transformed into lime, the only known construction binder until the beginning of the 19th century, by heating it. Made of schist rubble, it consists of three rooms. We advise you to come during a day of discovery because there is the setting in operation of a mini-furnace and the demonstration of the know-how of the chaufourniers.
