BARBECHAT
Barbechat is a charming village in the villages of La Chapelle-Basse-Mer and Du-Botteraux. Its original descent from the Celtic Bar: " hill "," mountain ", and bech: " high barrier "at the top of the hill dominating the valley of the river. The village is located on the edge of the River Divatte, a tributary of the river Loire. The creation of the commune would come from a legend. A huge black cat cat which, following a market between Saint Martin and the demon, for the construction of the bridge of Estoppel (construction in exchange for the soul of the first living being that would take it), was delivered to the devil by St Martin who saved a soul. The misled demon would have caught the cat on the commune and, by the whiskers, allegedly said: Cat beard, I keep you! (hence the name). He would then have swallowed it, but the cat was fighting in his throat and would have spit him up to the city. The heritage of the municipality is rich with its private castles, Gallo-Roman remains, Wayside and Sainte-Magdeleine chapel.
