THE MEGALITHIC STONE CHIP MONUMENT
Located rue des Landes-de-la-Plée, this megalithic monument and its surrounding stones are preserved traces of a very distant past. They testify to an ancient occupation of Bas-Goulaine, probably between 3 500 and 800 years before Jesus Christ. Pleven (or fried stone) directed towards sunrise at the summer solstice is over 5 000 years of age. His name comes from old French who mean stone, uncultivated, erected or raised on earth. Moreover, the blazon of the commune, representing in its upper part two azure silver rocks, refers to this presence of megaliths on its soil.
