From the Saint-Michel gate to the door of Couéré, which was the route linking the castle to Béré, you can admire the façade of the Hotel de la Houssaye, commissioned in 1769 by François Hochedé de la Pinsonnais. This characteristic façade of the th century, with its entrance porch, wrought iron balconies, ses windows; recalls the special hotels designed by the architects Ceineray and Crucy. The city walls end up between the end of the th century and the middle of the th century. They have four doors: Porte gate to Béré and Rennes, Porte Saint-Michel-des-Monts to Angers, Porte de la Torche to Sudan and Paris, Porte Saint-Nicolas to Nantes. The city closed with its suburbs at each of the four doors and the village of Béré form the city until the th century.
