CHAPEL OF THE TEMPLARS - CHURCH OF THE MADELEINE
The church, in Romanesque style, was built at the end of the 12th century, commissioned by the Knights Templar or Knights Templar, a military and religious order founded in 1119, which stood out particularly during the Crusades. It is located in the direction of Cugand Montaigu, in the Faubourg de la Madeleine, and is accessible via rue Saint-Gilles. Its facade, the harmony of proportions and the simplicity of the whole are so remarkable that it was thought to be the work of fairies. Registered in the inventory of Historic Monuments since January 9, 1926, it was still the subject of pilgrimages at the beginning of the 20th century, the latter being dedicated to Saint Margaret, whose statue she owned. This was revered by all, especially pregnant women who went on pilgrimage there.
