It is built on the site of a vast mérovingien cemetery, of which ancient sarcophagi were extracted and preserved in Nantes at the Dobrée museum. During the Revolution, it served as a cantonment for the Republican armies. Desecrated in 1793, it was restored in 1855 by Abbot Beaudineau.
