THE FOUNDRY
Lead foundry in Couëron on the banks of the Loire, classified as a historical monument in 1993
Towards the end of the 19th century, the Couëron Lead Foundry was founded on the banks of the Loire River with the ambition of developing the region's industrial activity. But after an economic peak in the middle of the 20th century, the situation darkened. It was finally in 1988 that the industrial activity of the city ended. The Lead Tower was classified as a historical monument in 1993 and the site began to be rehabilitated in 2009, preserving the original architecture. Today, there is a media library and a concert hall.
