BIRD SANCTUARY OF THE MASSEREAU
Bird reserve with marshes in Frossay, a perfect site to discover teal and various species of birds.
This island is located on the left bank of the estuary and is home to this bird reserve, a wintering site of European importance. More than 5,000 teals stay here during the cold season. This species finds here its second French wintering site after the Camargue. It is an excellent observation point for storks, peregrine falcons, white spoonbills, grey herons and corncrakes. Many mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles and insects are also found here.
