THE MADELEINE CHURCH
In the year 1160 the Abbey, whose original name is Abbatia Beatoe Magdalenoe of Genestonio, was built by Bernard, Bishop of Nantes died on December 27, 1169. In fact, from the year 1147 or 1148, six clerks appointed by Bernard settled in Geneston. Pope Alexander III ratifies the foundation of the abbey by his letters of 1163. It was rebuilt in 1661. The current building, in neogothic style, has a retable in golden wood of the seventeenth century, just restored, stained glass windows and a fourteenth century altar.
