Church whose stained glass windows recall the events that took place in the city during the liberation of the Saint-Nazaire pocket
The bombings of the Second World War have damaged it severely. The superb stained glass windows are the jewel of the church. They recall the events that took place here during the liberation of the Saint-Nazaire pocket (September 8th 1944 - May 8th 1945). They were made by the master glass artist Gabriel Loire from the workshops of Chartres who used a new technique here: the glass slab set in cement. This allows the refraction of light in such a way that it seems to come from inside the glass and not from behind. Two rosettes complete the ensemble.
