At the foot of the castle, the Goulaine marshes extend over nearly 1,500 hectares. This Natura 2000 site, the largest pike spawning ground in Europe, is a haven of peace for birds (coots, herons, etc.). Take a boat at the ports of Angle-Essort, Millau, or Montru, and discover the network of canals that were once used to transport stone and wine. The bridge of Ouen, whose first construction dates from the 6th century, offers a superb panorama. The Maison Bleue provides information about the site and the guided tours it organizes.
