It was built to replace the old Benedictine Chapel which served as a parish church from the 1750 s until its total silting in 1785. The first village of Escoublac buried under sand in 1780 is abandoned by its population. The second village then settled in the land and the church began in 1785. The church of Escoublac can also be regarded as the birthplace of the commune, since the first mayor was elected on 1 February 1790. Points of interest for its magnificent th century stained glass stained glass windows, its baptismal fonts, and the polychrome wooden statue of Sainte Anne which dates from the primitive church. There is also a 1702 copper search dish and the painting of Saint Isidore.
