THE MANOR OF THE PORT-JOLI
Work of architects La Font and Chauvet, this manor, whose architecture recalls that of the sixteenth century, is built on a hillside that descends the arm of Loire by connecting the municipalities of Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau and Bouguenais. Built in 1905 by the marquis of Boishéraud, a nantes sculptor, to shelter the woman of whom he was madly surprised (Camille Montifret), the castle was the property of the illegitimate daughter of the couple, Geneviève Montifret, who separated in 1936. Sarcophagi dating from the Carolingian era were discovered in the gardens. For hiking enthusiasts, the manor is at the end of the touristic circuit of La Montagne, whose departure is made rue de la Gaudinière. This 5 km course is marked by ancient buildings and views and can be the subject of a leisurely leisurely walk for lovers of outdoor life.
