From this place, the view over the bay is breathtaking. The beach, its villas, the coast for the fishing on foot make it one of the most pleasant sites of the Pouliguen. It is also the oldest part of the city. The point of Penchâteau has been the subject of an important occupation for many years: the traces of four lines of ramparts that could have been dated fairly accurately (around 450 BC) were traced. One assumption is that this fort was part of the city's defensive system. The beach of the pointe de Penchâteau de Pouliguen is the first beach on the wild coast of the Loire-Atlantique. The environment is becoming more savage on this part of the coast, even if there are many villas in the direct environment. To visit this beach from the centre of Pouliguen take the direction of Batz-sur-Mer from the seafront (indication of the Coast coast).
