LA GRANDE BARGE
Grocery store and bar-restaurant offering homemade dishes made from seasonal products in Nantes.
Since 2017, this atypical solidarity structure has housed both a grocery store and a bar-restaurant organised as a SCIC, Société Coopérative d'Intérêt Collectif, bringing together players around a common sustainable food object. Groceries are available at the entrance, while the rest is on the shelves at the back of the restaurant. Mushrooms or honey, eggs or herbal teas, bread or beers. For transparency, the list of partner suppliers is written on a large board at the entrance. Climb the few steps in front of you and you are in the small restaurant room: cosy and a little bit "like at home". The many shelves house the dry groceries from the grocery store. It is highly recommended that you take a closer look at them after placing your order. Conceived by the chef Elsa Baron, here the dishes are homemade with seasonal, organic and local products. For example, as a starter, an apple and butternut squash velouté, to be followed by pig and vegetable lasagna and to finish with a carrot cake. It's good, hearty and the portions are generous. The wine list is worth the detour, especially to test the natural wines. For those who prefer sobriety, don't miss the cold extracted juices (by the glass or the bottle). And a little novelty: the Saturday morning brunch... Don't forget to book!
