I absolutely love Bistro melon, named after the white grape variety from Burgundy. Opened at the end of June, this dining cellar nestled in the heart of a gourmet district is well worth a visit. First, there's the cheerful welcome of 31-year-old Julia Custodio, who takes great care of her customers. Then there's the food. Candied leeks with hazelnuts, roasted cauliflower with mogette and almond hummus, sticky toffee pudding... Magnificent surprise: the plate is as beautiful as it is refined, with a hint of originality. This is down to Julia's partner, chef Pierre Brunelli, 35, who puts all his love of good produce into his delicate cooking. It's homemade as we like it, with a short, ultra-fresh menu to better adapt to the seasons. Second surprise: the thirty-something, who recently trained with Michelin-starred chefs in England, is also a master sommelier. Hence the fine selection of natural wines offered by Melon, by the glass or to take away. Organic, local, in conversion, biodynamic... The bottles are displayed in a corner of the brightly decorated establishment: almond-green walls, parquet flooring, velvet seating, hand-crafted tableware... After wandering all over the world, Pornic natives Julia and Pierre were damn well inspired to come back to the area.
