MANA POSTERS
A museum displaying posters that take us back to important historical and socio-cultural moments, as well as a pretty store.
The notion of Mana according to the Polynesians is the emanation of spiritual power, a vital and magical energy through space and time. It's easy to understand why this brand new museum, which will come out of the ground in June 2019, or rather the poetic soul of its creator, Xavier Thébault, is so called! Museum dedicated to the poster with originals dating from the early nineteenth century to the 1970s. What a nice surprise and above all here is a nice walk through time and history through the prism of the famous posters of the time! About a hundred posters among the 5,000 held by Xavier are on display and they rotate every 4 months. Thematic posters such as the Little Queen in 1900, posters on Nantes l'industrielle at the beginning of the 20th century, posters before and after the 2 World Wars with propaganda, or the great post-Liberation bank loans with notably Firmin Bouisset (1859) (known for the Lu posters!) with here his poster "On les a", a nod to the French victory but also advertising for a bank! You can admire the posters of Jules Cheret and his cherettes... or of O' Galop, inventor of the Michelin Man (Michelin ad). You can still find advertising posters like Contrexéville, the very first ones! And the declinations of those of the Red Cross or national lottery. The best thing to do is to come... visit! The place also lends itself to privatization (cocktail party of 50 people). Posters can also be rented to decorate offices on a monthly basis. The museum, discreet, is just in front of the yellow crane of the island of Nantes. Each poster has its own story, it takes us back to strong historical or socio-cultural moments. Here we come to discover, to stroll, to dream, and to be inspired. Also, the pretty vintage shop at the entrance of the museum is a great gift or decoration idea for the home, just think about it. A new trip to Nantes?
