The Musée Thomas Dobrée in Nantes boasts an eclectic collection of permanent and temporary exhibitions.

The Musée Dobrée opens its doors after 12 years of renovation. It has been renovated and enlarged, with playful installations to guide visitors of all ages. Large display cases showcase the collections, recounting a world history (through the prism of the Nantes region) from the Neolithic to the Vendée Wars, with detours through America, Asia (Japan and China) and Africa, notably Egypt. Thematic trails place these works and the excavations in context (as seen today), acquired for the most part by Thomas Dobrée, son of a wealthy shipowner who devoted his fortune to art and bequeathed his acquisitions (and his home) to the Loire-Atlantique département in 1894.
