THE BELVEDERE THE HERMITAGE
On the occasion of the 2019 edition of the Voyage à Nantes, the route of the green line stretched to Chantenay. It is here that the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata, already known for his work the Observatory, takes height. With the belvedere of the Hermitage, he offers the people of Nantes the opportunity to dominate the city on a 36-meter long footbridge. From the immense balcony suspended 20 meters high, the view juts out into the Loire. The panorama stretches from the Hangar à bananes to Trentemoult, and under our feet, the Miséry quarry impatiently awaits the arrival of the Arbre aux Hérons, a project that has been constantly postponed and for the moment abandoned. Contemporary art is taking off and Nantes is taking flight!
