THE FOOD CHANNEL
Riffle fed by the Vioreau reservoir, with a large number of small stone bridges
This channel is about 20 km long, from the Vioreau pond to the Pas d'Héric reach. It was dug between 1833 and 1836 to maintain the water level of the canal. It is fed by the Vioreau reservoir. A large number of small stone bridges span it and four aqueducts: La Nochère, Le Pré Boursier, Le Gué de la Roche, Le Mesnil, three of which allow it to join the Pas d'Héric, the canal from Nantes to Brest which it feeds. The walk along the shaded paths which border it is particularly pleasant.
