The church was built on marshes after a battle of Clochemerle between the Haut Nozay and the current centre of Nozay. A rare example of medieval religious architecture, the church has been classified in Historical Monuments since 1989. The north transept is a flamboyant Gothic style and the th century structure is reversed. The church of the th, th and th centuries has Renaissance murals. The real name of the church is "Saint-Pierre-aux-Links" in the name of the patron saint of the parish and not "Saint-Saturnin du Vieux-Bourg" as inscribed on the act of classification of the building. An error was made by amateur historians and was discovered in the 2000 s without the name being corrected in Historical monuments documents.
