THE STAR GARDEN

This is one of the achievements of the 2009 Estuaire Contemporary Art Biennial. His author, the Japanese artist Kinya Maruyama, was invited to design a lasting work of art that would be permanently inscribed at his exhibition site. This creation is now used as a public garden, which the city of Paimbboeuf was sorely lacking. Located on the edge of Loire, both poetic and vaporous, this garden seems out of a dream, inviting the escape and the divagations of the imagination. By working from the constellation of the Grande Ourse, Kinya Maruyama built his star garden on the wharf of Paimbœuf, using materials from the region (slate, sand and land of the Loire edges, fishing net, rodents…). The fruit of a collective work, including schools and inhabitants, the promenade offers an interrelay of flowers and vegetables adapted to each season.
