Walking tour to discover the customs path to discover the mouth of the Vilaine and the Dumet island
A hike to discover the customs path! From the port of Lerat, a coastline interspersed with sandy creeks once frequented by gold miners leads along a raised path on the edge of the green heath, to the semaphore of the Pointe du Castelli. This point, the most advanced of the Loire-Atlantique department, is very dangerous for navigation. We discover the mouth of the Vilaine and the Dumet island. It offers a magnificent panorama from the tip of Croisic to the tip of Saint-Gildas de Rhuys.
From the semaphore, the services of the French Navy monitor the coast from Croisic to the Quiberon peninsula. On a clear day, you can see the islands of Houat and Hoëdic, and if the weather is clear, Belle-Ile is visible behind them. The rocks are full of legends such as that of Almanzor, which took in this valiant shipwrecked warrior on his return from the crusade. The rocks of the Couette and the Oreillers are sculpted by the ocean's frolics.
By crossing the town, you can continue the route which, from the other end of the port, passes by the cemetery, the hamlet of Kervin, the pond of Brandu and the mill of Praillane to join Lerat. A seaweed walk as well as a shellfish walk are also on the menu of the walks (reservation at the tourist office). Part of the Castelli point is inaccessible to hikers because of the risk of landslides. Please note that bicycles are strictly forbidden on this path, use the Vélocéan trail instead.
