BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE RIA
A hidden garden that is the kingdom of exotic plants, with rice paddies, water terraces, waterfalls...
After strolling along the docks, you have arrived at the Ria, where another nice walk awaits you. You will evolve in a vegetal environment with an immediate feeling of relaxation. The Garden of the Ria is indeed set back from the hustle and bustle of the city and well hidden. Located in the extension of the old port, near the tourist office and the train station, go around the Café du Port and you're there. Opened in 2013, it will eventually extend over 13 hectares. It was designed by the renowned landscape architect Thierry Huau, to whom we owe in particular the design of Terra Botanica in Angers. The once fallow site has been cleaned up and has become the kingdom of exotic plants, with the ambition of reviving the landing of these plants transported by boat from far away lands. Over 1 km along the canal de la Haute-Perche, you can see rice fields lined with camellias, water terraces, small waterfalls, wooden pontoons... A change of scenery guaranteed!
