The largest, the most visited of the seven islands with Aignac, Progenitor, Brécun, Mazun, Ménac and Pendille, which form the archipelago of St. Joachim. We note the very special architecture of the briéronne house, which is disposed of perpendicular to the road: wall of stone, bleached with lime covered with a thatched roof. As for housing, they are thrown down on the edge of the island between the canal, the curée and the road surrounding the so-called gagnerie centre devoted to crops. The island has a picturesque aspect with its traditional cottages, two of which are accessible to chaland. At No. 130, the House of Bride and No. 180, the Cottage Briéronne is to visit for their exhibitions on the women of the marsh. A village with a hidden charm considered by some as one of the most beautiful in France.
