This chapel dates from the xiith century and was built by Augustine monks at a particular location: a limestone island of the ancient Gulf of Machecoul. The religious were actively involved in the drying of the marshes. It has brought down the sea; In order to do this, they began the first containment (the pavement of Quinquenavent) and the construction of locks. The choir and crypt date from the xiith century. The nef to one span dates from the thirteenth century. The choir, with circular side, flanked by flat foothills, consists of two rows of narrow killers, and the lower row, on the ground, illuminates a crypt, which has been classified as a historic monument since 1997. This beautiful Romanesque chapel of the xiith century is drowned in farm buildings. This priory devoted to Saint Madeleine depended on Nieul-sur-l 'Autize in Poitou. His roof was recently restored.
