At the end of the 12th century, the Biais estate, which belonged to the Dukes of Brittany at the time, was transferred to the order of the Temple and transformed into a commandery; the Biais commandery once had a 12th century Romanesque chapel. On the north façade of the building is a Maltese cross (15th-16th century) and a Templar cross appears on a stone column in the garden. In the 16th century, the estate was administered by hospital workers and the dwelling became the Biais hospital.
