THE CASTLE OF PLESSIS-GRIMAUD
Go there and contact
In the past, there was a strong castle that would have belonged to Gilles of Rais. Razed, it was replaced by this sumptuous villa built between 1826 and 1846 in the style of a Tuscan villa called neoclassical or palladine. In 1869 Admiral Leray bequeathed the entire property to the Department. It is then up to the department to create and maintain, on its land of the Plessis-Grimaud, an agricultural and industrial orphanage, open from 1876 to 1949. Next, the department sells the land that is acquired by farmer farmers. Stay the villa. In 1973, Mr and Mrs de Villepin (the same family as the former Prime Minister) acquired the villa and the park completely abandoned. They raser the orphanage and restore the villa to offer it a new youth and restore its charm of yesteryear.
