THE MAZEROLLES SWAMPS
Les Marais de Mazerolles, exceptional biodiversity and a bird-watching observatory with no-kill fishing.
The marshes of Mazerolles represent nearly a third of the surface area of the commune, and more since the Domaine de Mazerolles (classified as a Natura 2000 site for its rich biodiversity) extends over 2,700 hectares on either side of the navigable part of the Erdre. One can observe 169 species of birds, many of which are migratory, but also rare and protected plants. The subsoil resources are very rich in peat, sand 20 to 40 metres thick and water. The marshes are also a paradise for no-killfishermen.
