100% home made and seasonal cuisine in a superb restaurant with grocery store, cellar and terrace in Angers.
This Mahieux House, which is a restaurant, a wine shop and a delicatessen, is a perfect example of a Rabelaisian style! We like its terrace, on sunny days, overlooking the quiet Place du Lycée, but also the family atmosphere and the "gourmet postcard" aspect that emerges inside. Near magnificent black hams from Bigorre, the window of the mature cheeses or facing the shelves full of terrines, condiments and organic jams, you can enjoy a 100% homemade and seasonal cuisine. The menu changes every week, giving pride of place to recipes that are simple at first glance but always show a certain inventiveness. Cream of cauliflower and smoked haddock soup or duo of ravioli with pink garlic pesto as a starter, semi-cooked salmon in marinade and Chinese noodles, filet de lieu jaune and arugula emulsion or beef cat tongue, northern French fries and béarnaise whipped into main courses... All this is very good, often copious, but for the smallest appetites, it is always possible to have a simple plate of cheese, cold cuts or portions of homemade salads. A little dessert? The caramel mousse and its caramelized popcorn is a success, as is the panna cotta and its strawberry sauce with sage. Weakness: a rather dark room in the background. Talents: generous dishes, well prepared and an adorable welcome!
