BISHOP'S PALACE
Episcopal palace with a beautiful synodal hall, a jewel of the Angevin heritage to discover.
A jewel of Anjou's heritage that's still too little known! Built in the 12th century and long closed to the public, the palace has undergone various transformations over the centuries, blending different architectural styles, notably Romanesque and neo-Romanesque. It bears witness to the influence of the bishops of Angers in the region. The palace can now be visited with a guide through the tourist office. Inspired by the Palais du Tau in Reims, the site boasts a magnificent synod hall, the apartments of Monseigneur Freppel (former bishop), reception rooms and a former stable housing the original statues of the "giants" on the cathedral façade.
