MUSEUM OF ENGINEERING
Museum retracing the history of the weapon which made Angers the capital of military engineering, various military objects exposed.
Both a fighter and a builder, the Génie d'Angers can pride itself on having a museum that is worthy of its rich history. Located in the heart of the Engineering School and a stone's throw from the station, it traces the history of the army that made Angers one of the country's military capitals. All aspects of engineering (political, cultural, scientific, technical and human) are addressed in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of its field of action. In the chronological gallery, we discover the history of the Genius, from the Gallo-Roman period to the present day, and the technical developments that have shaped the French military landscape. The second area, thematic, is dedicated to trades and techniques. It is divided according to the three traditional missions of the Genius: to fight, to build, to rescue. The use of several educational materials makes the visit interesting and lively. Finally, in the hall, there is a very beautiful oil on canvas entitled "To the glory of the bridge workers", representing the crossing of the Rhine in 1945 by the Allied armies. Quite a symbol!
