Gallery in an Angevin fortress, featuring the medieval tapestry of the Apocalypse, a masterpiece by Jean de Bruges

The château is home to an exceptional treasure: the Apocalypse hanging. Commissioned in the 14th century by Duke Louis I of Anjou, this masterly work retraces in a series of panels the gripping vision of the Apocalypse according to Saint John. With its richly detailed scenes and length of 104 meters, it is a marvellous illustration of the art of medieval tapestry. Each painting tells a story imbued with symbolism and mystery, transporting visitors to the heart of the imaginary world of the Middle Ages. An artistic and historical immersion not to be missed!

A ne surtout pas manquer lors d'un passage à Angers
Les tapisseries sont en très bon état de conservation et un fabuleux témoignage de l'histoire, les explications données sur le sens des symbolismes donnent un réel sens au tapisseries et font de cette visite un moment exceptionnel de culture
