LE RU - REPAIRE URBAIN
A cultural hub featuring a giant scale model and video application to help you discover the city of Angers.
How the University Restaurant in the Fine Arts Gardens has changed! The place has been revamped and has been operating since February 2020 under the same acronym - RU - but with a different name: the Urban Den. This cultural centre houses the CIAP (Centre for the Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage) on the ground floor, offering an exhibition space for its projects. A giant model of the city and a video application allow you to discover Angers in a head-spinning way (360° panorama). You can also visit the tapestry room (still of some importance in the department even in our time!). Educational workshops are often organized in the adjacent room, intended for the plastic arts. On the1st floor, the heritage archives service ensures the conservation and development of the town's written and iconographic documents. The public can take advantage of a reading room open to all, with more than one million books, and come and listen to lectures. Those in charge are usually available to answer questions. Next door is the Artothèque, a privileged place to admire and learn about contemporary art. The place regularly offers exhibitions and activities (mediation, artist residencies and publishing). But the magic of this place lies even more in its policy of disseminating and sharing culture; Angevins can come and rent, for their own use, nearly 1,200 original works!
