MANOR HOUSE OF CLAIREFONTAINE
Clairefontaine's private mansion is an authentic medieval monument in Anjou. Classified as a historical monument, it is an old wine barn that belonged to the abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Lauroux and was later transformed in the 15th century into a pleasure mansion by a noble tenant of the monks. The guided tour, carried out with humour and by the owner himself, lasts one hour and gives access to six rooms that allow you to imagine the life of the monks of the time. We particularly appreciate this mise en abyme, explained with passion, where children and adults alike are transported into the past. You can admire the furniture and tapestries, paintings and sculptures from the 15th and 17th centuries. In the park of more than 50 hectares - where picnicking is allowed - we find a bucolic setting: we pass successively from wonderful flowered gardens of roses and perennials, to the medieval garden, to the park of domestic animals, to the garden of forgotten vegetables, the ponds and then through the "land of sculptures". In summer, special scavenger hunts and activities are planned for children. A visit rich in history and full of surprises.
