THE FIELD OF THE STREETS
Cradle of the Rouge des Prés breed - also known as Maine Anjou - renowned for its butchery productivity, Domaine des Rues invites you to discover the richness and flavours of a terroir. This former model farm was built in the early 19th century by the Rougé family to raise cattle. Here and at that time the Red race of the Meadows was created. Olivier, one of the descendants, still carries out the same activity there. As an actor in the development and conservation of local animal breeds, he is considered as the founder of the Maine Anjou breed. Passionate about his profession, he devotes himself to the enhancement of the animal, architectural and geographical identity, typical of Haut-Anjou. He raises not only cattle, but also pigs - the Western Whites -, hens of local origin, and sheep - the Maine Blues. It is therefore at Domaine des Rues that you must come to buy good meat. On the way, you can enjoy a guided tour, activities and exhibitions that help you understand the history of the products. But you can also buy online (www.viandemaineanjou.com). In addition, the estate hosts receptions and family celebrations.
