JOSEPH DENAIS MUSEUM
Musée Joseph Denais, featuring the only mummies in Anjou, with a chatelaine sculpted by Camille Claudel, and an albino mole
This cabinet of curiosities was founded by journalist and historian Joseph Denais (1851-1916), a modern-day explorer. It's a veritable Ali Baba's cave for lovers of discovery. With over 9,000 objects on display, the collection covers fields as varied as fine art, archaeology, natural history and ethnography. Rare items include the only mummies in Anjou, a sculpture of a chatelaine by Camille Claudel and even an albino mole. A fascinating place, where rummaging through drawers is encouraged!
