PIMPERAN CASTLE
The imposing castle was built in the fifteenth century by Bertrand de Beauvau, friend of King René. Today, he preserves his towers and daughters, as well as a beautiful chapel which contains ovens of the xve century considered the most beautiful of Anjou for that time: angels carrying instruments of Passion and scenes of the life of the Virgin. The Granier at the imposing gates used to be used to store the taxes imposed by the lords on their subjects. The beautiful chapel, protected by historical monuments like the rest of the building, is worth a look for its richly painted vaults. Today it welcomes wedding receptions and seminars. It is preferable to book in advance but owners being windowners (red anjou), they are not easy to contact: take it in advance.
