GASTÉ MILL
The mill ceased all activity following the First World War
The cavier mill is typical of Anjou and particularly of Saumur. It is composed of a hucherolle, a mobile part supporting the wings which rests on a cellar, sometimes troglodytic, hence its name. The Gasté mill, built around 1800, had ceased all activity following the First World War. It was bought back in 1997, registered as a Historic Monument and restored in the respect of its 19th century architecture. It has been restored to such an extent that it can even produce flour again thanks to the complex gears that can be observed during the visits.
