GILL POND
Pond dug in the 18th century for fish farming and a place to observe more than a hundred birds in Gennes-Val de Loire
The Joreau pond, used for fish farming, was dug in the 18th century. On the 92 hectares of the reserve, more than a hundred birds have been counted, and even more insects, among which rare species of dragonflies. On the banks, the vegetation is very diversified: grass and reed beds, moors, oak forests... By following the path that borders the pond, one can observe the footprints of certain mammals (badgers, foxes, roe deer, wild boars...). As for the bats, you have to wait until nightfall to admire them!
