GILL POND
Pond dug in the 18th century for fish farming and a place to observe more than a hundred birds in Gennes-Val de Loire
The Joreau pond was dug in the 18th century for fish farming. Over the 92 ha of the reserve, more than a hundred birds have been counted, and even more insects, including rare species of dragonfly. The vegetation along the banks is highly diversified: reed beds, moorland, oak groves... If you follow the path along the edge of the pond, you can observe the footprints of certain mammals (badgers, foxes, roe deer, wild boar, etc.). As for the bats, you'll have to wait until nightfall to admire them!
