THE BLUE MINE
An unusual place in the heart of a former mining site in Anjou Bleu, where a guided tour of the galleries invites you to take a trip back in time
La Mine Bleue offers a unique immersion in the history of slate mining. 126 meters underground, visitors explore authentic galleries, discovering, for nearly two hours, the origin of slate from strikingly large extraction chambers. The discovery of the daily life of miners at the beginning of the XXᵉ century continues above ground, with demonstrations using techniques of yesteryear. They illustrate the processing stages: how slate quarrymen went about cutting, "querning", splitting and "rounding" slate. Bring comfortable shoes and warm clothing (13°C). Guided tours only, booking essential.
